Training

Training around a job, kids and a full schedule

· 5 min read

The plan that fits your week beats the optimal plan you skip three times a month.

Pick a floor, not a ceiling

Decide the smallest week you will always do — usually two 40-minute sessions. Anything above the floor is a bonus. People who set a floor train for years; people who set a ceiling quit in March.

What to cut when time disappears

Cut in this order and the session keeps almost all of its value:

  • Accessory isolation work
  • The third set of secondary lifts
  • Conditioning finishers
  • Never cut: the warm-up set and the main lift

Restarting after a missed week

Repeat the last week you completed rather than jumping to where the plan says you should be. One repeated week costs nothing; one overreaching week costs a month.
